Roulette has a long and rich history. It has been around for centuries and is one of the oldest gambling games around. Its popularity is still high and players are still drawn to the spinning roulette wheel. Even to this day, roulette is one of the most popular casino games.
Most players are drawn to the roulette table because of the simplicity of the game. Just like most games of chance, roulette has simple rules that are very easy to learn. You do not have to use a complicated strategy either. There really isn't that much to it. That is why most players learn the rules in no time at all and immediately start to play. You have just as many chances to win as any other player at the table.
The most important part of playing roulette is learning all the different bets that you can place.
The rules of roulette are as follows:
- No other casino game uses the same type of chips as roulette. You will not be able to play roulette games with the same chips that you can play blackjack with for example. The croupier from the roulette table will exchange your cash if you want to play roulette. Just place the cash on the table and tell him what value chips you want to receive. If you put $100 on the table for example and ask for 20 chips, you will receive 20 chips with the value of $5.
- In order to place a bet just put your chips on the corresponding square on the roulette table. There are several types of bets that you can place when playing roulette. The main ones are inside bets and outside bets. Placing an inside bet means that you have bet on any individual number on the table or any number combination. This includes: 5 number bets, 6 number bets, Corner bets, Split bets, Straight bets and Trio bets. Placing an outside bets means that you have bet on red, black, odd, even, high (19-36) or low (1-18). This includes: Columns bets, Dozens bets, Even or Odd bets, High or Low bets and Red or Black bets.
- You cannot place a bet smaller that the table minimum. The total value of the bets that you will place on a spin must be at least of equal value to the table minimum, not lower. There is no limitation to the number of bets you can place on a single spin.
- The croupier will spin the ball after all the bets have been placed. He will make a wave motion with his hand. This means that you can no longer place any more bets on that spin.
- When the ball stops the dealer will announce the winning number. He will then place a glass marker on the winning number on the table.
- The croupier will then proceed to collect all the losing bets and pay out all the winning ones.
Simple, isn't it? There really isn't any more to the game of roulette. It is a very straight forward and easy to play game. And once you are familiar with all the types of bets that you can place you will have loads of fun playing roulette.
