There are different types of bets in roulette to choose from.If you want to have fun while playing you should first familiarize yourself with these bets. They are easy to learn, so you should not have a problem understanding them.
The main bets that you can place when playing roulette are inside bets and outside bets. Below you will find detailed and comprehensive information on both types of bets. If you take the time to read this section you will have no problem becoming familiar with roulette bets. The information is presented in an easy to learn manner, so you should have no problem understanding it.
Single Number bets or Straight-Up bets.
On the roulette table you will find all the numbers from 1 to 36. These numbers are placed there individually and in numeric order. Placing a single number bet means that you have placed a bet on any of these numbers, but on only one number. If that is the winning number, you will receive a payout ratio of 35-to-1.
Split bets mean that you can use the same chips to bet on two different numbers at the same time. The numbers must be next to each other though. In order to place such a bet just put your chips on the line that separates the two numbers. If you win you will get paid at a ratio of 17-to-1.
Street bets mean that you have bet on 3 numbers that are placed in a line, horizontally on the roulette table. You can use the same chips to bet on these 3 numbers just as in a Split bet. In order to place a street bet just put your chips on the line that is just outside the row. The payout ratio for a winning Street bet is 11-to-1.
Corner Bet or Square Bet
Placing a Corner bet means that you have bet on a block of 4 numbers. A block of numbers refers to 4 numbers that are next to each other and form a square. In order to place a Corner or Square bet just put your chips in the cross section in the middle of those four numbers. The payout ratio of a winning Square bet is 8-to-1.
Even or Odd
When placing such a bet you are basically betting that the winning number will be either even or odd. If the number 17 is the winning number for example, all odd bets will receive a payout. But if the number 18 is the winning number, all even bets will receive a payout. The payout ratio for an Even or Odd bet is 1-to-1. If the winning number is 0 or 00 you will lose your Odd or Even bet.
Black or Red
Just as the name suggests, you are betting that the winning number will have the color black or red. The payout ratio for a Black or Red bet is 1-to-1. If the winning number is 0 or 00 you will lose your Black or Red bet.
High or Low
All the numbers from 1 to 18 are known as low numbers. All the numbers from 19 to 36 are high numbers. When placing a High or Low bet you are betting on the value of the winning number. If you have placed a Low bet and the winning number is 5, you win and are paid at a ratio of 1-to-1. If the winning number is 0 or 00 you will lose your High or Low bet.
Placing a Column bet means that you have bet on any of the three columns on the table. Each column has 12 numbers. In order to place a Column bet just put your chips on the "2 to 1" sign. The payout ratio for a Column bet is 2-to-1, just like the writing on the roulette table.
Placing a Dozens bet means that you have placed a bet on an entire column of 12 numbers, ranging from low (1-12), middle (13-24) to high (25-36). The payout ratio for a Dozens bet is 2-to-1.
As you can clearly see there are lots of options when you have to place a bet in roulette. Although there are many types of bets, it is really not that hard to remember them. And if you happen to forget anything, the dealer can always help you out. Just ask him and he will tell you. After all, that's what he is meant to do. Help you and get you to keep on playing. What casino doesn't want you to play at their roulette table for as much time as possible?
