The roulette is one of the main attractions in the casino and it has a mesmerizing effect on the people. The main versions of the roulette are the European and American ones. They are different and in this article we will talk about the differences.
The American Roulette
The American Roulette wheel has 38 slots (numbers from 1 to 36, 0 and 00). This roulette has a 5.26% edge over the player.
The European Roulette
The European Roulette has only 37 slots (numbers from 1 to 36, 0). Because the 00 slot is missing, the edge drops to 2.70% which makes the European version better.
Types of betting
These are some of the betting possibilities at roulette. The dealer will explain them for you if you don’t know them.
The Column Bet: This bet pays 2-1 and is on the outside of the Roulette layout.
The Dozens: This bet pays 2-1 and at this bet the player can wager on one of the three areas, each containing 12 numbers (1-12, 13-24, 25-36).
The Low or High Bet: This bet pays 1-1, and at this bet the player can wager on one of the two sections; one section displays numbers from 1 to 18, the other from 19 to 36.
The Odd or Even Bet: The player bets odd or even number. It pays 1-1.
The Red or Black Bet: The player bets on a black or red number. It pays 1-1.
The Split Bet: The player places a bet on the line dividing two numbers. If any of those two numbers come, the player gets paid 17-1.
The Straight-Up Bet: The player wagers on a single number. If that number comes the player wins 35-1.
As you can see the 0 and 00 don’t pay, unless you place a straight bet or a split bet on them. The game is not complicated, and it can be learned in less than an hour.
